As a first-generation Colombian immigrant, Anamaria (she/her) brings a wealth of diverse experiences and specialized skills to her mental health practice. She has worked in intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization settings with children, adolescents, and adults from a variety of socio-cultural backgrounds, facing an array of challenges. With a foundation in neuroscience, Anamaria incorporates psychoeducation to help clients identify personalized, evidence-based tools and practices grounded in an understanding of their nervous system's tendencies and needs. These practices are designed to help clients cope with everyday stress, build resilience and work in alignment with their values and physiology in everyday life. Her therapeutic approach integrates trauma-informed therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), developmental and attachment theory, and mind-body feedback. She also incorporates her expertise in Dance/Movement Therapy to complement and enhance the healing process. Anamaria specializes in working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery—particularly those who tend to rely solely on intellectualizing or rationalizing.
